The blokes on the telly missed it, so don’t feel bad. I watched Vintage Voltage last night, because they were doing up a Midget (which I care about) as a modern electric (which I don’t). But when they were done, I saw they made a very common mistake.
This is not that car. Can’t find any images of that one.
Look at the height of the turn indicators. BL changed this in 1968. Early ones were high, later ones are low. I learned this 20-some years ago when I was still dicking around with these, when they were affordable. But I caught it in primer.
The Vintage Voltage car had been previously restored twice, they said. Now it’s three times. The shop that did the $12,000 paint job didn’t catch it, either.
Now you’re more of an MG wonk.

from the Jalopnik archives,

“You know the kind of bar you go to because there’s no goddamn bigscreen tvs showing football 24/7, and no loudmouths trying to turn the place into a frat party? Some little hole in the wall Irish pub that only has like two beers on tap? You go there so you can be alone with your thoughts. Put aside the cares of the day. Linger for an hour or so over a pint and not have to remember that you live in a world full of assholes and tax collectors and screaming kids. You sit your ass down on the barstool, and you can be completely alone for one brief shining moment. The only thing the bartender needs from you is a nod, then you get your beer and your silence. You are for that moment complete. It’s pure bliss.
Then some guy with an MG wants to talk to you about valve stem seals.”

I enjoyed learning this nugget of wisdom, perhaps I’m an aspiring MG wonk..?

Reminds me of the FIAT 126p that somebody imported to Canada and has for sale on Kijiji in Ontario right now for way too much money
....all sorts of things wrong with it (mismatching paint, rocker panels painted body color and not the factory black...lock for the rear engine lid missing, mismatched rear taillight lenses...)
...but the biggest thing is that they have the turn signal lenses on the front upside-down.

it was meant in jest, I thought it was funny that it reminded me of that old Jalopnik piece. every niche has their stereotypical fanatic; in the free software world it’s Arch Linux users.
Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing.
